I have had an eventful couple of days since my trip to Brasil for the Fight Inequality Alliance Global Gathering.
The climax for me was attending a boxing tournament in Dandora that I supported and getting the opportunity to preach at Karura Community Chapel, Ruaka Campus, a day after I got back. I spoke about the Heart of Service, that is, individual success and communal good and the spirit of stewardship.
I learnt a lot from the gathering of individuals and organisations who came from all around the globe. They are investing their time, resources and knowledge into working towards an equal society. Why do they do this?
When, no one will ever notice or appreciate their efforts in contributing to a better world.
One thing was consistent among all of them. They have the spirit of stewardship. They understand that the time, resources and strength they use for this work is a gift.
This is the attitude that keeps them going and giving even when it's hard. This is what keeps them humble when all the praise of a good job done comes their way. They know that they are just a 'whistle', like Jay Z once said, a vessel for air to pass through.
They recognise that they have been entrusted with the work, resources and opportunities for the betterment of others.
